Cut the Wait with Same Day Crowns
We understand that life can be busy. That is why we are proud to offer same day crowns for our Elkhart, IN, Granger, and Mishawaka, patients. Traditional dental crowns require two visits to the dentist over the course of multiple weeks. With the aid of advanced CEREC technology, the dental team at Watkins Family Dental can prepare your tooth, manufacture your custom crown, and place the prosthetic during one visit to our office. CEREC technology offers high quality and durable crowns in a fraction of the time it would take to outsource the fabrication process to a laboratory.
Benefits of Same Day Crowns
Same day crowns offer the same benefits as traditional crowns but in a fraction of the time. If you prefer to cut down the amount of time you have to wait to enjoy a restored smile, you may be a great candidate for this same-day option. Same day crowns can:
- Save you time
- Save you money
- Restore oral function
- Preserve and protect your natural tooth
- Improve the appearance of your smile
- Provide a more even bite balance
How Do Same Day Crowns Work?
Same day crowns utilize two advanced technologies: computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM). Dentists all across the country trust the durable and natural-looking results that CEREC delivers.
Traditional crowns require extensive prepping of the tooth before a mold is made. Afterward, the mold has to be mailed to a laboratory, where it can take multiple weeks to complete the fabrication of a single dental crown. Then, a second visit has to be scheduled to place the crown and make final adjustments.
Same day crowns offer a convenient and high-quality restoration that can last for years.
Same day crowns allow Dr. Bruce Watkins to complete the entire restorative treatment during one convenient visit to our Elkhart dental practice. Your treatment will begin when Dr. Watkins prepares your tooth to receive a custom dental crown. This process involves removing part of your tooth’s natural structure to make room for the restoration. Prepping is performed using local anesthesia, although our office also offers nitrous oxide and oral sedation opens to ensure that you are comfortable throughout your procedure.
Once your tooth is ready, a special camera will be used to take 3-D images of your tooth. Then, the digital information is sent to our advanced CEREC machine, which mills your custom crown from a single ceramic block in under one hour. Once your new crown has been manufactured, Dr. Watkins will ensure that it is a perfect fit before placing it over your natural tooth using a strong bonding agent. Once your crown is placed, you will be free to leave our office with your restored smile.
